Raymond L. Blanchette Jr 87, of Woonsocket, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024 in Landmark Medical Center. Ray was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Raymond Blanchette Sr and the late Cora (Grenier) Blanchette. He was an Army veteran and textile worker for the former Worcester Textile Company for over forty years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid softball player and played in the Woonsocket Field of Dreams Softball league for many years. He also enjoyed bowling in the leagues at Walnut Hill Bowl. Ray was a longtime Yankees fan but will always be remembered as a good natured and generous soul.
He is survived by his brother Robert Blanchette and his wife Mary Jane of Mobile, AL Roger Blanchette and his wife Lucille of Woonsocket, his nephews: Matthew, Brian and Chris Blanchette and niece Jennifer Brennan, and many great nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Normand Blanchette and Muriel Blanchette.
His funeral with Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 25 at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church, South Main St, Woonsocket. The family will receive guests at 9:30 in the entrance to the church. Burial will follow in St Jean Baptiste Cemetery Bellingham.
