Raymond "Mertz" Derosky
12-7-1944 to 10-9-2024
Raymond "Mertz" Derosky passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 9, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Jane Derosky, his children Amy (Phil) Wagner, Leslie (Larry) Hysell and Lori (Mohammad) Opczynski-Bawabiji, and his two cherished grandchildren, Cameron and Alexandra Wagner. He also has two surviving brothers, Stanley (late Bonnie) Derosky and Edward "Butch" (Judy) Derosky. Raymond was predeceased by his parents Henry John and Julie Derosky, two brothers Henry Derosky and Frank (Carol) Derosky and his only sister, Frances "Tootie" (Pete) McKay.
Raymond worked at J & L (LTV) for 23 years and worked for Chartiers Valley School District for 19 years. He was also a very successful DJ for over 20 years. His interests included playing adult men's softball and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
Visitation will be held at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., McDonald, PA (724-926-2800) on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Service to be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at the Oakdale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
