Rumford -Raymond Henry Jovin, affectionately known as Ray to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at his home in Rumford, RI, onWednesday, October 8, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on June 9, 1955, in Pawtucket, RI, Ray was the cherished son of the late Alfred D. and Henrietta (Angers) Jovin. His life was one of dedication, love, and service, leaving a legacy of kindness and craftsmanship that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Ray was a talented master mechanic, a vocation he pursued passionately throughout his life. He honed his skills in various garages in the area, earning a reputation for his hands-on expertise and creative problem-solving abilities. His career path led him to serve as a service manager at Goodyear, and his entrepreneurial spirit eventually inspired him to operate his own successful mechanic business. Ray's work ethic and keen eye for detail were unparalleled, and these qualities made him a respected figure in the automotive community.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ray was a man of many interests and commitments. He was a former parishioner of St. Jean the Baptiste Church in Pawtucket.
His love for the open road and camaraderie among fellow enthusiasts led him to become one of the founding members of the New England Vikings Motorcycle Club. Ray's presence was a staple at motorcycle rallies across the country, including the famed gatherings at Lake George, Laconia, NH, and the iconic Sturgis Rally. These events were not just pastimes for Ray; they were integral chapters of his life story, filled with adventure and lifelong friendships.
Ray's kindhearted nature, his handy and creative spirit, were the hallmarks of his character. He was a loving father to Carrie Perez of Providence and a doting grandfather to Anthony, Austin, Amanda, and remembered the late Vanessa with a tender heart. Ray's love extended to his dear girlfriend, Antonia Lob of Rehoboth, with whom he shared many cherished moments. He is also survived by his sister, Rita Kunburger of Tennessee, his aunt Ann Marie, and niece Monique, both of Maine. Ray was predeceased by his brothers, the late Alfred Jovin and his twin, Roland Jovin, leaving behind a family that will miss him deeply yet celebrate the fullness of his life.
Ray's departure from this world leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, yet his memory will continue to inspire. His life was a testament to the enduring power of kindness, skill, and creativity. As we bid farewell to Raymond Henry Jovin, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared with him and the countless ways he enriched our lives. His legacy will live on in the engines he brought to life, the roads he roamed, and the love he gave so freely. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Friday October 17, 2025, from 10:00am -12:00pm in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a prayer service in funeral home at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery,359 Daggett Avenue, Pawtucket.
