Raymond "Ray" August Labat, 82, a native and resident of Houma, LA passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery II.
He is survived by his two sons, Paul Labat (Crystal Jenkins) of Corpus Christi, TX and Kevin Labat (Chasity) of Houma; seven daughters, Alison Dryden of Houma, Shirley Lafleur (Steven Miller) of Crowley, Carolyn Bertrand (Randy) of Estherwood, Tammy Arceneaux (Donald Jr.) of Houma, Carla Bergeron (Jason) of Houma, Pauline Fontenot (Bryan) of Carlyss, and Mandy Richard (Terance) of Duson; one twin brother, Roy Labat (Edith) of Houma; one sister, Juanita Blanchard (Melvin) of Houma; 20 grandchildren, Steven Labat Jr., Ashley Labat, Brandon Dryden, Kayla Guidry, Candace Lafleur, Derrick Lafleur, Blaine Bertrand, Dustin Bertrand, Trey Arceneaux, Angelle Arceneaux, Tori Bergeron, Patsy Dobbs, Cody Labat, Andrea Richard, Caile Labat, Austin Labat, Kamryn Labat, Maridith Richard, Bronson Richard, and Elise Richard; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Geraldine "Gerry" Mary Faucheux Labat; one son, Steven Paul Labat, Sr.; one grandson, Cory Wayne Labat; parents, Julian and Gladys Babin Labat; one brother, Emile "Buster" Labat; one sister, Shirley Marie Labat; one sister-in-law, Barbara Cavalier Labat; one son-in-law, Bret C. Dryden; one nephew, David Blanchard; in-laws, Emile "Canoon" Faucheux, Sr. and Cecilia "Sue" Waguespack Faucheux; and sister-in-law, Claudia Faucheux Senft.
Ray was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Ray loved spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed spreading love, laughter, and kindness. His contagious smile and laughter would always light up the room. He especially enjoyed the many fishing trips, stories, and time spent with his twin brother, Roy. He also enjoyed his time spent with the Marine Corps League Auxiliary. We will miss his humorous stories and compassion that he shared throughout his life.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Heritage Manor of Houma and the St. Catherine's Hospice staff for their care and compassion.
