Raymond J. Nelson, 57, of Marion, passed away at 6:40 am on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Miller's Merry Manor in Marion. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Saturday, November 11, 1967, to Russell and Roberta (Reece) Nelson, Jr. He was married to Dawn N. (Friedersdorf) Nelson on September 2, 2017.
Raymond graduated from Jefferson Christian School in Upland and had worked at RCA for many years. He was a member of Jefferson Christian Church, where he was raised, and he was also involved with Healing Heart Church of God over the years. Raymond was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. He loved watching wrestling, playing ping pong, and going to Bingo. He enjoyed watching scary movies and going to the speedway. Raymond also loved reading The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew novels. He will be remembered as a happy man who always wore a smile. He will be missed by those he leaves behind, but Raymond was ready to stand before his Lord.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dawn N. Nelson of Marion; brothers, Rick (Tina) Nelson of Hamilton, OH, and Randy Nelson of Marion; sister, Rita (Michael) Mellendorf of Marion; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Nelson, Jr., and his mother, Roberta Nelson.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Grant Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 1606 W. 26th St., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Raymond's life will begin at 12:00 noon with Rick Herring and Connie Hall co-officiating. Burial will take place at Jefferson Cemetery in Upland.
Arrangements are entrusted to Integrity Funeral Care, 1606 W. 26th St., Marion, IN.
