Raymond "John" Terek, 80 of Moundsville, died Friday, January 31, 2025 in WVU Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 6, 1944 in Wheeling, WV; the son of the late John and Viola Anne (Golein) Terek.
John was a retired fireman, having served as fire chief from the Moundsville Fire Department; US Army Vietnam War veteran; member of Messiah Lutheran Church, VFW 437, Moose 1087, Earl Francis Post 3 American Legion, Eagles 499; loved fishing, bowling and golf; USBC (US Bowling Congress); and a WBA Hall of Fame member.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert "Bobby" Terek; and one brother, Paul S. Terek.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sandra L. Holmes Terek; one son, Douglas (Angela) Terek of Moundsville; three grandchildren, Jessica (Chad) Wilson, Amanda (Dallas) Rine, and Jimmy Nixon; three great-grandchildren, Conner Wilson, Clara Wilson, and Riley Rine; one brother, Roy (Karen) Terek of Brookside, OH; one sister, Betty Fluharty of Moundsville; several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 2pm until the time of service at 4pm at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville with Pastor Devin Ames officiating and the Moundsville Honor Guard conducting Military services.
Private interment will be held in Riverview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, woundedwarriorproject.org.
