Sinclair, Maine
Butch, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and dedicated member of the Sinclair community, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 12, 2025. He was born on September 11, 1941, to Andrew and Gertrude Thibodeau.
He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served his country with honor before returning home to devote his life to public service. Together with his wife and daughters, he ran and operated Bev's Country Kitchen for over twenty-five years. Later, Butch worked for many years at Patrick Theriault School as a custodian and bus driver and played a pivotal role in designing and constructing the Sinclair Sanitary District, helping to maintain the infrastructure of his hometown. He was also a dedicated member of the Sinclair Fire Department, where he rose to become Fire Chief. His leadership, dedication and selfless service were pillars of strength within the community.
He is predeceased by his parents; his brothers-in-law, Ted Zambos and Rosaire Sirois, his sister-in-law, Johanna Bouchard; his mother-in-law Cecile Bell, his father-in-law, Arthur "Bee" Bell, son-in-law, Cedric "Todd" Pelletier and several beloved aunts and uncles.
Butch's greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Beverly Thibodeau, four daughters April Pelletier of Sinclair, Patrice Thibodeau and her partner Clay Clester of Carrabassett Valley, Cindy Douglas of Bow, NH and Vicki Daigle and her husband Cary of Fort Kent. He was a cherished grandfather to Lyndsey Szabo and her husband Julian of Fort Kent, Justin Robtoy and his fiancé Alix Calloway of St. Agatha, Sierra Lozko and her husband Andy of Wasilla, AK, Alyssa Knightly and her husband Austin of Epsom, NH, Brianna Douglas and her partner Ivana of Brooklyn, NY, Caitlyn Daigle of Bradley, ME and Ethan Daigle of Fort Kent. His legacy will live on through his great-grandchildren Vayda Szabo, Fischer Knightly and Luca Lozko. He will also be remembered by his cousin, Andrew Bouchard and his family who remained an important part of his extended family.
Butch will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, quiet strength and deep love for his family and community. His impact will be felt for generations to come.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Country Village Estates for the compassionate care and support they provided to Butch over the past year and a half as well as to Northern Maine Medical Center, the nurses and Dr. Patrick Mitchell for the sincere and genuine care they provided. A special thanks to Northern Lights Homecare and Hospice for the guidance and support.

St. Agatha, Maine on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, May 17 at the St. Joseph Church, Sinclair, Maine from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a mass of Christian burial at the St. Joseph Church in Sinclair, Maine and interment at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Sinclair, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the
Alzheimer's Association in Butch's memory. He was a devoted and compassionate caregiver to his beloved wife throughout her ongoing journey with the disease.
