Mrs. Reba Douglas, a devoted woman of faith, love, and strength, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025. She was 80 years old.
Born on July 8, 1944, in Dothan, Alabama, Reba received her early education in her hometown before relocating to Wabasso, Florida, in 1964. There, she built a life rooted in service, family, and unwavering faith.
On July 7, 1974, Reba married the love of her life, Minister Levan Douglas Sr. Their union was a testament to love and commitment. Together they shared a beautiful life and welcomed their beloved son, Levan Douglas Jr. Minister Douglas also embraced Reba's three children, Mary, Robert, and Gerald as his own, raising them with the same devotion and care.
Reba accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and lived a life that reflected her deep love for God. She faithfully served for many years as the First Lady of the Church of God, where she led the praise and worship ministry and was active in prison ministry outreach. Her warm spirit, generous heart, and powerful prayers touched countless lives.
Known for her remarkable baking, Mrs. Douglas delighted many with her sweet potato pies and other homemade treats. She was no stranger to hard work, having been employed at Dale's Manufacturing and also working as a Domestic Assistant for many years.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Reba was the heart of her family and a beacon in her community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Minister Levan Douglas Sr.; her parents, Matthew and Rosa Blackmon; her sisters Lelia, Lizzie, and Nettie Blackmon; and her brothers Henry C., Billy, Willie, and Johnny Blackmon.
She leaves to cherish her memory:
Her loving daughter, Mary Helms (Chris); three devoted sons, Robert Helms (Jarita) of Orlando, FL, Gerald Helms (Erika) of Vero Beach, FL, and Levan Douglas Jr. (Felicia) of Palm Bay, FL; 24 cherished grandchildren and 15 adored great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brothers: Jimmy Blackmon (Linda) of Alabama, Jack Blackmon of Alabama, and Joe Blackmon (Janice) of Melbourne, FL; her Godchildren, Terra McIntosh and Charlie McIntosh; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Mrs. Reba Douglas lived a life full of grace, faith, and purpose. Her legacy of love, service, and devotion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
