Church Point, LA: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Our Lady Of The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mrs. Rebecca "Bekhi" Labbé, 66, who passed away at 4:03 PM Friday, April 14, 2023 at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, LA. Msgr. Jefferson J. Deblanc and Père Rozas will be the Celebrants of the Mass and burial will follow immediately after at Bellevue Memorial Cemetery; Opelousas, LA. Pallbearers will be Benjamin and Noah Wimberly, Jake Lavergne, Eugene Lopez-Ona and Jon Broussard.
Bekhi, a resident of Church Point, was the daughter of the late J.L. Labbe and the former Mary Chachere. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Deacon Doug Wimberly of Church Point; two daughters, Ashley Wimberly Lopez-Ona and husband Eugene of Church Point and Meghan Wimberly and husband Jake Lavergne of Carencro, LA; two sons, Benjamin Wimberly and wife Megan of Addis, LA and Noah Wimberly and significant other Jordan Umphries of Houston, TX; four grandchildren: Theodore "Theo" and Archenbaud "Archie" Wimberly and Fitzgerald "Fitz" and Chachere "Cash" Lopez-Ona and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Labbe. A life-long resident of Church Point, Bekhi served her community for 45 years as a registered nurse at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital. She was also an active member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 18, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Tuesday by Deacons Byrne Winn and Shawn Melancon. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
