Rebecca Schwinn Meigs was born in Delaware, Ohio on August 23rd, 1946 to her loving parents, Bill and Vivian (Simpson) Schwinn and passed peacefully on August 31st, surrounded by the love and support of her family.
Becky attended and graduated from Reynoldsburg High School and spent many years continuing her education, whether with classes that appealed to her personally or helped further 30+ years of dedicated service with Lucent Technologies. It was there she met her husband, Chuck Meigs, and began building a life together filled with love, travel, their blended family and beloved grandchildren.
Becky is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Allen Meigs, father, Wilmer Clarence Schwinn Sr., and mother Vivian Marie Schwinn. She is survived by her daughters, Jenny Rebecca Storts (Christopher), Amy Minner (Jerry) and Rachael Beth Wilson (Alan Young), as well as her grandchildren, Jonah, Makenzie, Sarah, Ben and much loved furry grandpup, Jaxx. While the family is extensive, they are close knit and will miss her beyond words. Becky is also survived by her mother-in-law, Anna Bertolina, dearest brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Pat Schwinn, sister and brother-in-law, Jody and Charly Englert, many nieces and nephews, Angie Sharb (Jason, Gabby and Cole), Jessica Gartland (Brian, Caleb and Kylie), Jackie Beirne (Michael and Eileen), Katie Lindsey (Brady), Angela Stazer (Alex, Landon, Christian, Jamison), Chad Englert (Bre), Alyssa Acevedo (Eric and Zara). Her presence will be missed immeasurably by her countless friends, many of whom are considered as family.
It is the family's hope she will be remembered for the love that shined from her every day, with every activity she dedicated her heart. Becky, as a devout Catholic, was proud to be a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church of Columbus where she served with the women's club. After extensive research she became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She absolutely loved to travel and in recent years visited Scotland and Ireland with close friends, Sharon and Sue, and then surprised her loved ones by booking a solo Catholic pilgrimage to Italy, Spain and Portugal where she (not surprisingly) made many new friends. Throughout her life she created a legacy with volunteering, instilling upon her girls, "Even when you don't have money to give, your heart and time will still make an impact." In 2021 she was awarded the Kathleen M. Brown Leadership Award from Hospice of Central Ohio where she dedicated countless hours training new volunteers and supporting families with loved ones in hospice care at Licking Memorial Hospital during her 8 years of service.
Her girls and family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her many friends, from both near and far, who offered support and love during her extremely brief battle with pancreatic cancer. The care she received at Mount Carmel East Hospital from the entire care team with 4NICU, as well as the surgical and oncology teams was exemplary and their love will be remembered always. To Tuscany Gardens in Pataskala, especially Margie and the care team in the 500 unit, your every kindness brought immeasurable comfort and words of thanks could never be enough to show our gratitude.
While flowers are appreciated, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Central Ohio in Becky's name or Bella Care Hospice, who cared for her in her final days on this Earth.
