Rebecca Morris Obituary
CARBONDALE - Rebecca Ann Morris, age 69, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Sunshine Gardens Assisted Living in Marion surrounded by her loving family.
Rebecca was born on January 9, 1956 in Chicago to Byron and Hilda (Herzmann) Wilkinson. Rebecca married Alan Morris on February 29, 1992 at Beau Chateau in Alsip, IL.
A lover of travel, all animals, music, dancing, laughing, socializing, and almost anything sweet and especially pecan ice cream. She would be up for doing almost anything someone wanted to do. She was “Easy to please”. She brought a smile to everyone’s face and she would do anything for someone before herself. Her sweet soul brought so much light wherever she went and it is comforting to know she will be remembered for her selfless kindness. She just wanted to love and be loved. May she be remembered for the light in her eyes and may this light shine down on all who were blessed to know her and see it. She would also say her favorite brother was “Rick” because he always made her belly laugh (according to Rick).
Rebecca’s career in retail customer service was marked by her unwavering dedication and a genuine commitment to helping others. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness, earning her the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike. Her legacy of kindness and unwavering support will continue to inspire those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Alan Morris; son, Joseph Alfano; daughter, Sara (Brian) Inglis; sister, Carol Brannon, brother, Richard Wilkinson; sisters-in-law, Laura Wilkinson, Janice (Charles) Bauer, and Meredith (Dean) Rosenberg; 4 nieces and nephews; 21 great-nieces and nephews; and 6 great-great-nieces and nephews and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Louis Alfano; brother, David Wilkinson; brother-in-law Ron Brannon; and sister-in-law Linda Wilkinson. Graveside services for Rebecca will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Lipe Cemetery in Makanda.
Memorials may be made in Rebecca’s name to Lipe Cemetery or St. Francis CARE Animal Shelter. Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale assisted the family with arrangements. To leave a story or memory of Rebecca visit www.meredithfh.com.
