Rebecca Poe Venn, 75, of Nicholasville, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 in Lexington. She was the daughter of Naomi Woodward Poe, and the late Robert G. Poe.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her two sons, Joshua Venn of Nicholasville and Jacob Venn of Lexington; her brother, Alan Poe of Centennial Colorado. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Venn; and brother, Randy Poe.
Rebecca grew up in Brooksville, graduated from Bracken County High School and Georgetown College, and earned a Masters in English Literature from the University of Kentucky. She married her husband, Robert Venn, in 1970 and moved to Florida, where she taught for several years before moving back to Kentucky. She taught at Scott County High School before her husband's career took Rebecca and her family to Ashland, where she spent the bulk of her teaching career at Boyd County High School and Ashland's Paul Blazer High School. She retired in 2004 and later moved to Nicholasville.
Rebecca adored her friends and loved her family deeply. Reading was a true passion of Rebecca's, along with gardening, writing, and playing the piano. She has left a legacy of kindness and compassion that is felt throughout the lives of her friends and family.
A remembrance will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 beginning at 12pm, at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing, with a celebration of life service starting at 12:30pm, followed by a gathering of family and friends until 3pm.

So sorry to hear of my cousin“s passing.
Always remember the good times had when Becky was here and it will lessen the sting of death

Want to leave you with this:

"Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
Look Full in His Wonderful Face
And the things of this Earth
Will Grow Strangely Dim
In the Light of His Glory and Grace"

Oh Becky, I don't want you to be gone. That would be selfish of me. You fought hard and suffered greatly. Your suffering is over and ours begins for a time. I rejoice that you are now healthy and whole. Ann Chilton, AAUW.
