Mr. Reginald “Reggie” Glaze, age 79 of Calhoun, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, at The Fountains.
Mr. Glaze was born in Lumpkin County, Georgia on July 28th, 1945, to the late Robert Lee “Buck” Glaze and the late Annie Barnes Glaze. Mr. Glaze was a retired educator and coach and taught at numerous schools throughout North Georgia for over 30 years. Coach Glaze graduated from Lumpkin County High School and went on to attend The University of Georgia where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in physical education. After his tenure at UGA, he received his master’s degree from North Georgia College and his specialist degree from Jacksonville State University. He took great pride in being a strength and conditioning football and wrestling coach throughout his career. He was inducted into the National Wresting Hall of Fame in 2009. He enjoyed weight training and watching the Georgia Bulldogs.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Glaze; two sons, Griffin Glaze and his wife Rachel and Grant Glaze and his wife Missy; one daughter, Ginny Kirby and her husband, Kurt; eleven grandchildren, Caroline, Turner, Carson (Will), Cullen, Carter (Ceara), Caitlyn, Ava, Allan, Reece, Reagan, and Roczen; three great-grandchildren, Parks, Wells, and Scarlett.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 26th, 2024, at 1 PM at Sugar Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Phillips and Rev. Tommy Phillips officiating. Honorary pallbearers include all Coach Glaze’s former students and athletes.
The family will receive friends on Saturday October 26th from 11 AM until 1 PM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in honor of Reggie to The Michael J. Fox Foundation or to St. Jude’s's Children's Hospital.
