Reginald "Reggie" William Surles, 67, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, in Southaven, MS. A visitation will be held in his honor on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road East, Southaven, MS). A funeral service will immediately follow his visitation at 12:00 p.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven. Brother Ed McDaniel will officiate services. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements.
Reggie was born on December 10, 1956 to the late Frank and Agnes Ross Surles in Vicksburg, MS. He graduated from Holmes Community College and Delta State University and played football at both institutions. After graduating with his Master's Degree, Reggie taught Mathematics and coached football and baseball in Mississippi before he retired. Through his teaching tenure, Reggie imparted his hard work ethic and strong sense of values to the countless number of students he coached and taught over the years. Reggie also worked as a Construction Supervisor and participated in construction mission trips, where he made a lasting impact by constructing churches and other facilities for communities in need. Reggie loved traveling, riding motorcycles, team roping, and most of all, bringing laughter and fun to all those around him.
Reggie leaves behind his loving wife, Jenessa Surles of Hernando; his two daughters, Emily (Hunter) Burcham of Southaven and Kimberly (Matthew) Poe of Terry, MS; his beloved grandson, Everett Burcham of Southaven; his brother Ross (Marion) Surles of Dublin, TX; his two nieces, Fran (Blake) Denham and Callie Jo (Terrell) Shaw, both of Millsap, TX; his great niece Blake Elizabeth Denham of Millsap; extended family members and many friends who will forever cherish priceless, fun-filled memories and miss him greatly.
Mr. Surles was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Agnes Ross Surles and his niece Elizabeth Tracey "Beth" Surles.
Expressions of condolences may be left on his Tribute Wall at www.colemanfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Surles' family requests donations to be sent to Fighting Blindness Foundation (donate.fightingblindness.org) or The American Kidney Fund (secure.kidneyfund.org).
