Reneé passed away quietly on the morning of January 11, 2026, after her children gathered around her, forever and always a mom first.

She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the first child and only daughter of Harold R. and Jean R. Tyler Cook. The family lived on the Cook family farm in Milo, Idaho, before moving to a ranch in Darby, Montana in 1951. No one really loved the hard work of the ranch, so the family eventually moved to Hamilton, Montana, where Renee’ graduated from high school.

She attended business school and worked for GMC Financial for a time.

Reneé married on December 31, 1958, and had three children, Toni, Brett, and Darrin. She was later divorced in 1971.

She left family, friends, and all things familiar to move the family to Ogden, Utah, in the summer of 1969 to provide better education opportunities for Brett.

She married Clyde O. Flinn on May 31, 1975, at her parents’ home in Hamilton, Montana. They worked side by side for State Farm Insurance until his retirement, at which time she said, “me too”. They maintained many friends from their associations in business.

After retirement, Reneé was a caregiver. She helped her mom take care of her dad when she could no longer do it alone. She took care of her mother in her home for 5 years prior to her passing, while also taking care of her husband who suffered from Alzheimer’s.

She loved baking and trying out new recipes. She made her talents known through oil painting, toll painting, embroidery, and cross-stitch, although she would deny the word talent. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, genealogy, reading, and Diet Coke. She loved family gatherings, large and small; birthdays, holidays, and super bowl parties. She was a fan of sparkly clothes and shoes and holiday socks.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, teaching Primary, Relief Society, and serving in any other capacity she was asked. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, thoroughly enjoying her associations there and serving as treasurer for her camp. She enjoyed her book club right up until Covid took it away.

Reneé is survived by her children, Toni and Darrin (Julie); Clyde’s children, Randy and Jason (Laura); 11 grandchildren and spouses; 17 great-grandchildren; and brother, Rodney (Carolyn) Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Brett; her parents; and parents-in-law.

Special thanks to Betty Smith for her regular visits, lunches, and rides after Renee’ became ill.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
