Renee Lee Williams, 60, of Newton Grove, passed away on Sunday, May 7th, 2023, surrounded by her loving husband, son, and family.  A Service Celebrating her life will be held 3:00PM-Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Stones Creek Advent Christian Church, 343 Wood’s Crossroads Road, Benson, NC 27504.  Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove, NC.  Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate.

Born on September 21, 1962, Renee grew up one of four sisters. She spent her childhood working on the family farm.  She graduated from South Johnston High School in 1980 and graduated Johnston Community College in 1982. Renee worked for the Employment Security Commission with the State of North Carolina for 30 years.

Renee was the most wonderful wife to her husband, Jeff, and the most loving mother to her son, Garrett. She was a great daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, friend, and neighbor. She enjoyed cooking and baking; anyone who knew Renee, knew she was known for chocolate layer cakes. She was a meticulous planner and enjoyed planning many family, social and Church functions. Renee was a member of Stones Creek Advent Christian Church in Benson where she served as the Sunday School Church secretary for many years, she was an active member in the WHFMS, and volunteered with various senior citizen activities. She was a generous and thoughtful Christian woman, always there for others with a smile on her face and a kind word.

In 2005, Renee was diagnosed with a rare cancer and for nearly 19 years, she persevered and fought against all odds, and she did so with such admirable courage, relying on her strong Christian values and faith.

Renee is proceeded in death by her father, Graylon Lee; mother, Ruby Daniels Lee; maternal grandparents, C.E and Belle Morris Daniels; paternal grandparents, William and Georgia Lee; mother-in-law, Margaret “Susie” Williams; brother-in-law, Danny Williams; and sister-in-law, Tammy Westbrook.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 34 years, Jeff Williams; her son, Garrett Williams, and special friend, Jennifer Jackson all of Newton Grove; her sisters, Shannon (Bob) Clark of Raleigh, Cindy Lee of Benson, Lisa (Shawn) Moore of Benson; her father-in-law, Bryan Williams of Newton Grove; sister-in-law, Terrie (Gary) Westbrook of Newton Grove; nieces, Suzanne (Paul) Brooks of Greenville, Kathryn Hinnant of Denver, Colorado, Kaylee (Ryan) Herring of Dunn. Bridget (Bobby) Rackley of Newton Grove; nephews Landry Moore of Garner, Brooks Moore of Benson, Johnathan (Karmen) Williams of Newton Grove, Alex Cooksey of Durham, Brad (Val) Cooksey of Charleston, South Carolina, Gage and Brendan Williams of Wilmington, two great-nieces, Ely Grace Williams and Sophia Williams; five great nephews. Ethan and Lucas Brooks, Emerson Herring, Forest and Lyle Cooksey, and special uncle and aunts, Jerry and Betty Lee, and Ellen “EJ” Simpson; many cousins, neighbors, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:30PM-2:45PM, Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Stones Creek Advent Christian Church, and other times at the home.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Stones Creek Advent Christian Church C/O) Phyllis Barefoot 64 Wood’s Crossroads Road, Benson, NC 27504.
