Jimmy Deleano Rogers, Jr., age 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at his residence in Forest, MS. His visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday, November 1, 2024, from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. His services will take place at 11:00 AM in our Funeral Home Chapel. His burial will follow at Morton Memorial Gardens in Morton, MS. Bro. Harold Floyd, Bro. Chris Floyd and Bro. Dan Henry will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Jimmy was born on July 26, 1949, to Jimmy Deleano Rogers, Sr., and Mary Lou Lindsey in Morton, MS. He had lived in Homewood, MS since 2009 formerly of Morton, MS where he lived his entire life. Jimmy was a Member of Line Creek Baptist Church in Morton, MS. He was a U. S. Army Veteran. Jimmy served as a Police Officer with the City of Morton from 1981 until 1993 and the Capitol Police from 1993 until 1997. He was elected Chief of Police with the City of Morton in 1997 and served till he retired in 2009. Jimmy enjoyed squirrel hunting, fishing and was an avid Ole Miss Fan. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his fish camp at Eagle Lake.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy D. Rogers, Sr., and Mary Lou “Flea” Rogers; his sister Roslyn Rogers Downing; his two sisters-in-law, Shirley Floyd, and Ruth McLemore; his brother-in-law, Gene McLemore; his father and mother-in-law, Leon and Winnie McLemore. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Pat Rogers; his son, Trey Rogers (Carrie); his two brothers-in-law, Jackie McLemore and Harold Floyd; his three nephews, Lance Downing, Chris Floyd (Twyla) and Cal Floyd (Melody); his two grandchildren, Payton Rogers (Parker) and Alana Rogers and a host of cousins.
Pallbearers will be Cal Floyd, Payton Rogers, Marvin Lindsey, Joey Mayes, Mike Lee, and Jimmy Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Simpson, Bo Coker, Gary Hawkins, Greg Dickins, Larry Lynn Meeks, and Rene` Osteen.
