Rex Allen Pearson
February 9, 1937 ~ November 2, 2021
Rex Allen Pearson, 84, Gas City, passed away in his home at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. He was born and raised in Huntington, Indiana where he lived most of his life, on Tuesday, February 9, 1937, to Edward and Josephine Ruby (Bailey) Pearson. He married Marsha (Eccles) and she survives.
Rex moved to Gas City to be closer to his family and live out his remaining years. He attended New Hope United Brethren Church in Huntington. He graduated from Huntington North High School in 1958 and then joined the military where he served as an Army Tank Driver. He retired from Majestic Fireplaces in Huntington where he worked as a crib and inventory supervisor. Rex enjoyed traveling, antique bottle collecting and chatting about where his newest one was from, gun shows, target shooting, gun competitions-where he won many 1st place trophies, and jigsaw puzzles. He loved spending quiet weekends listening to music; his favorites were Lorrie Morgan, Alison Krauss, and country classics. He loved Christmas and enjoyed decorating the house with his many Santas and cooking his famous holiday ham and beer bread which his family asked for every year. His favorite dessert was ice cream and pineapple shakes from Sophie's. He always made time to take his granddaughters for ice cream when they visited in the summer. He was a sweet and loving husband, father, and grandpa. He will be deeply missed.
Along with his wife of 30 years, survivors include his daughter, Vicki (William) Burley-Fannin of Marion; sons, Ray Pearson of Huntington, David Burley of Marion; and 4 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ruby Pearson; son, Randy Pearson; sister, Marjory Ramsey; brothers, Gerald Pearson, Robert Pearson, Herbert Pearson; and his 1st wife, Carolyn Jordan.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN 46933.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Rex's life will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory - Marion.
