Rex Christensen

Rex Edward Christensen, age 67, passed away on December 15, 2023 from Acute Myeloid Leukemia with his wife, Joletta Ann Christensen by his side. He was born in Delta, Utah on August 1,1956 to Bernard L. and Rosemary (Kernell). Rex grew up in the Salt Lake area. His father had opened many small businesses over the years in which his family worked to support his entrepreneurial adventures. Rex had four siblings: Tony (Yvonne), Kim (Linda), Debra (Lee) Frost, and Rex's twin brother Max (Linda). He loved his family more than anything in the world. Rex often commented on how incredibly pure and almost angelic his brothers were and he loved his sister's sense of humor and spiritual life as well. They were all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Rex was very proud of that fact and always strived to do his best.
Rex graduated from Brighton High School where he wrestled and played football. He was also in Scouts where he received his Eagle Scout badge. After high school, Rex went onto serve a mission in which he was rst assigned to the England Leeds Mission. Then the mission split and he was assigned to the England Manchester Mission. Rex's twin brother, Max, was on the other side of England. He and Rex were able to be missionary companions as they nished out their missions in 1977.
Rex then went onto Snow College for a year with a minor in computers and then onto Saint Leo College in Tampa, Florida to earn a major in liberal arts.
Rex met and married Shereen Forsyth in which they had four wonderful children: Rocky (Rachel), Colleen (Trent) Preston, Alan, Derek (Mary). Rex absolutely adores his children and is very proud of who they each have become.
Rex has 13 grandchildren as well: (Rocky & Rachel's children) Jacksen, Carter, Claire and Ty. (Trent & Colleen Preston's children) Eliza, Grant, Nora, Howie, Charlie and Rose. (Alan's child) Archer. (Derek & Mary's children) Talmage, and Quintin.
In 1984, Rex joined the Air Force and became a Sta Sergeant by 1988. He was a jet engine mechanic and then became a jet engine instructor on F-16's. He has received many honors and awards for his service and conduct. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 2013. Rex had 10 years active duty in the Air Force, got out for 13 years and then went back in for 10 active years in the International Guard. After which, Rex worked for Northwest Airlines for 20 years and then Delta Airlines for an additional 10 years. He retired with 30 years of aviation on his birthday in 2020. Rex was also an active Red Cross volunteer.
Rex spotted his current wife, Joletta, at an outdoor barbecue with friends and they hit it o right away. They married three months later on February 14th, 2013. They were later sealed in the Cedar City Temple for time and all eternity. If you could ever say two people were soul mates, these two most de nitely were. Rex was a wonderful father to Miya Quance, Joletta's daughter. Rex and Joletta have many treasured memories!
Rex thoroughly enjoyed retirement! He always said he was thankful for his job and all of his coworkers and he felt very skilled at his job but he often said he would rather do without it. In retirement, for his remaining years, he loved playing pickleball, gol ng, shing, shooting and spending time with all of his new friends he acquired in Utah. Every day was a joy for him. He will be remembered for his humor, positive disposition, and jovial spirit.
Rest in peace, Rex Edward Christensen, you will be forever missed but we will meet again.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 1650 W. Center St. in Cedar City, Utah. Services are under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences may be shared at www.mortuary.org.
