Rex Hunter "Horseshoe" Griffin

Rex Hunter “Horseshoe” Griffin passed unexpectedly the week of November 10th at the spry age of 71 in his home on Moondance Farm of Hillsborough, NC.

Horseshoe started his adventurous life in the Everglades of Florida, swimming with manatees and getting into good trouble. He was a musician, a published poet, and a teller of tall tales. Whether he was tickling the keys of the piano to the Boogie Woogie, or strumming an acoustic guitar original like “Size 10, Get Me Where I Want To Go,” he was always eager to learn, play, and lovingly prank those around him. His love for nature and the balance of all things led him to organic farming. He stewarded the land of Moondance Farm for 40 years, where he created a beautiful life for himself, his daughter Alex, and his community.

He joins his parents, JoAnne and Gerald Boehm.

Shoe lives on through the people who loved him, some of whom include his daughter Alex Griffin and son-in-law Sterling Bentley, sister Debbie Gominiak & family, lifelong friend Linda Godwin, and many more.

A graveside Celebration of Life will be held at Bluestem Community on Tuesday, November 18th at 10:00am. Please wear something colorful! Blue is his favorite color, but any color outfit that makes your heart sing is welcome.
