After his long fight with kidney disease, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rex Allen Mason on September 13, 2024 peacefully at home in Macomb, Michigan at the age of 68.
Rex Allen Mason was born on April 21, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the oldest of nine children born to Cecil and Patricia (Stewart) Mason. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving from 1974-1978 in various places including Okinawa, Japan and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. On May 26, 1990, he married Susan Crommett and they shared 34 wonderful years together. Rex was a Quality Control Engineer, proud of his contributions toward Space X and Boeing. He had a passion for music and loved playing bluegrass on his guitar, mandolin, banjo, and dobro. Rex was a hard worker, completing his Master's degree in Accounting and Business Management in 2015. He kept people rolling in laughter as he could find humor in all of life's circumstances. His passing has left a void in the hearts of those who loved him the most and he will be greatly missed.
Rex is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Rex Allen (Genevieve) Mason Jr.; daughters, Barbara (Scott) Page and Lindsey (Daniel) Singletary; granddaughter, Marissa; grandsons, Rex, Jonah, Zachary, and Rhys; siblings, Barbara (Dan) McDonald, Rick (Kathy) Mason, Tony (Robin) Mason, Brenda (Scott) Ray, Betty (Don) Morgan, Ralph (Alesha) Mason and Richard (Anna) Mason; many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Patricia; brother, Randy Mason; and daughter, Jillberta.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at North Warren Free Will Baptist Church, 3003 Chicago Road, in Warren. The visitation will take place on Thursday, September 26 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, September 27 at 10:00 a.m. with an instate time at 9:00 a.m. The burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. We will be meeting at the cemetery at 1:00 p.m. for the committal service and military honors.
Memorial contributions would be appreciated to American Kidney Fund.
