Reyes J. Madera, age 85, of Port Lavaca, Texas passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025. He was born on September 7, 1939, in Municipilo de Rancho de los Madera Huejuquilla, El Alto, Jal., to the late Rogaciano and Gregoria Madera.
Reyes was a hard worker and loved his family. His favorite past time was going to support the neighborhood baseball team on the ranch. Reyes and his donkey would ride on the ranch and sometimes take the kids along with him. He had fun taking "joy rides" into town. He had a few cows that he enjoyed keeping up with. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, not to mention drinking a few cold ones along the way. We will miss the times we shared with you in this lifetime. May you rest in peace.
Left to cherish his memory are, sons, Manuel Madera Cruz (Gregoria), Gregorio Madera (Francisca), Leobardo Madera (Manuela), Jose Reyes Madera (Yolanda), and Ipolito Madera Cruz (Luz Elvia); sister, Esther Madera; brother, Arturo Madera (Norma); 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Venancia Madera Cruz; daughter, Maria Madera; sisters, Constancia Madera, Aurelia Madera and Francisca Madera; brothers, Juan Madera, Pedro Madera, Martin Madera, and Gregorio Madera.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 5:00PM – 8:00PM with a Rosary recited at 6:00PM at Grace Funeral Chapel, 1604 W. Austin St., Port Lavaca. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 10:00AM at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, 415 W. Austin St., Port Lavaca. Interment to follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery, 500 Martin Luther King Dr., Port Lavaca.
Pallbearers will be, sons, Gregorio Madera, Leobardo Madera, Jose Reyes, and Ipolito Reyes; brother, Arturo Madera; and grandsons, Leobardo, Sebastian, and Leonardo Madera.
