Rhonda Hallman Hutchinson, age 63, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Evans Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 1, 1960, in Portsmouth, Virginia and had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was a 1978 graduate of Glennville High School. Rhonda was known for her love for animals and had the privilege of working as a Veterinary Tech with Miller Veterinary Clinic in Claxton for over 20 years. Her passion for animals knew no bounds, and she cared for all creatures great and small. From her pet skunk to snakes and monkeys, Rhonda's heart was always open to those in need.
Outside of her career, Rhonda had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She found solace in the pages of books, loved spending time tending to her garden, cherished moments watching movies, and delighted in creating delicious dishes in the kitchen. These activities allowed Rhonda to tap into her creativity and explore the diverse wonders of life.
She is of the Baptist faith and is preceded in death by her brother, Scott Hallman and her stepdaddy, Robert Tootle.
Rhonda is mourned by those who meant the world to her. She leaves behind cherished memories with her children: Brandice (Jason) Smith of Statesboro, Ashley (Matthew) Higgs of Glennville, Zach (Michelle) Hutchinson of Jesup, and Chelsey (Dan) Nixon of Kirksville, MO. Rhonda also shared a lifelong companionship with Hal Hutchinson of Reidsville.
The loss is keenly felt by Rhonda's mother, Bennie Tootle, who lives in Glennville. Her siblings, Kelly (Lee) Bland and Shawnda (David) White, both of Glennville, her beautiful grandchildren: Jason Smith Jr., Haddie O'Neal, Hunter Smith, Tucker Hutchinson, Savanna Smith, Callie Hutchinson, and Dax Nixon; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00am on Monday, October 16, 2023 with the funeral services to follow at 10:00am from the Chapel of The Glennville Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Gardner officiating. Interment will be in the Beards Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Bland, Justin Bland, Brinson White, Travis Hutchinson, Nick Harden, and Braegan Todd.
