Rhonda J. Kirby passed away peacefully at her home in Aptos, CA, where she resided for the final years of her life, on September 29, 2025, at the age of 80. Rhonda was born on November 22, 1944, to her loving parents, Robert Sr and Barbara Larsen. Her family moved from Overland Park in Kansas, to Cupertino, California, and eventually settled in Aptos, where she grew up and remained until she got married.
She met and married the love of her life, Terry Kirby, and together they raised their son and shared 49 wonderful years until his passing. Rhonda dedicated herself to being a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Although she was a wonderful stay-at-home mother and wife for most of her life, she occasionally worked as a dental assistant, pharmacy tech, and daycare teacher.
Rhonda's hobbies included cooking, which she excelled at, and writing short stories. Above all, she loved her family and friends and always made those around her feel welcome and comfortable in her home. Her legacy is one filled with love and kindness. She was a very caring person who never spoke ill of anyone. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Rhonda is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Yolanda Larsen, and her beloved granddaughter, Lacie Kirby. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Lance Kirby, and nephews, Robert Jr, and Michael Larsen, as well as numerous grand-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Terry Kirby, her beloved son Shawn Kirby, and her parents, Robert Sr and Barbara Larsen.
A small family ceremony to celebrate Rhonda's life will be held at a later date. Details, date, and time pending. Mehl's Colonial Chapel has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
