Ricardo Cartagena, Jr., 39, of Largo, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at his home. He was the devoted husband of Fior Gonzalez. Born in Hartford, CT, on January 30, 1985 Ricardo was the son of Ricardo Cartagena Sr. of Middletown, CT, and Angelina Laboy of New Britain, CT. He spent much of his life in Middletown before moving to Largo, FL, just a year in a half ago. Ricardo was a graduate of Platt High School in Meriden, class of 2005. He was known for his dedicated work ethic and his kind, compassionate nature, always going above and beyond to serve others in every role he held.
Known to his family and friends as "Ricky," he was a true jokester who brought laughter and joy wherever he went. Ricky had a passion for freestyle music and was a sneaker fanatic, always on the lookout for the latest and most unique pairs. Above all, he loved helping others and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Ricardo's family was the heart of his life. Besides his wife and parents, he leaves behind two sons, Miguel Alvarado and Xavier Cartagena, and a daughter, Anjali Alvarado. He also leaves behind his sisters, Maria Cartagena and Marta Cartagena and his brothers, David Cartagena, Joseph Cartagena, and Issac Cartagena. Additionally, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who cherished him deeply.
Ricardo will be remembered for his loving, caring, and fun-loving nature. He was a bright presence in the lives of all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
