Ricardo Mijares Ongaco

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ricardo Mijares Ongaco, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Ricardo passed away on December 13, 2024, in Newark, Delaware, at the age of 93.
Born on June 14, 1931, in Parañaque, Philippines, Ricardo grew up in a large and loving family as the son of Bernabe Ongaco Sr. and Crisanta Ongaco. He was one of eight siblings: Idaleda, Estrilita, Bernabe Jr., Zenaida, Ophelia, Lourdes, and Francisco.
Ricardo proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, dedicating himself to a life of duty, discipline, and commitment. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his service to the maritime community as a contractor in seaman supply and later worked at the Southern California Rapid Transit District.
Ricardo was a man of strength, loyalty, and quiet support-a true pillar of his family. He found his greatest joy in the presence of his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Rosalinda; his children: Arlyn, Belinda, Rommel, Robert, Romulus, and Roric; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Those who knew Ricardo will remember him for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong and supportive nature, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
Ricardo will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm, Thursday December 26th, 2024, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware. Friends and family may gather one hour prior.
Interment will be held at 10:00am, Friday, December 27th, 2024, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Georgetown, Delaware.
