Nancy Shields Obituary

Nancy was a teacher for over 30 years during which time she met Beth Reynolds who became her lifetime best friend. She enjoyed teaching and took pride in her students. She retired in 2014 wrapping up her career at Polytech High school.
Besides teaching, Nancy's other passions included reading, shopping, history and politics. She was also very passionate about her family and was known for her thoughtful gifts.
She was a gently tempered soul and would do anything for others. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lois and Allen Starke Sr. She is survived by her sister, Susan Starke, her brothers, Allen (Susan) Starke Jr and John (Carol) Starke, her children, Rion Shields and Rebecca Shields and her grandsons, Kyren and Kasen Shields, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
Nancy was a breast cancer survivor. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Susan G. Komen foundation or the American Cancer Society.
