Richard B. Aimone, 81, of Lincoln Park, died Friday, May 5, 2023.
Born in Newark, Richard was the son of Thomas and Kathryn Aimone. Raised in Bloomfield, he graduated from high school there. After serving in the U.S. Army, he joined his father and brother in the family business, Aimone & Sons fruit & vegetable market in Newark. Richard was proud to own and operate his family's business, which had been started by his grandfather, an Italian immigrant.
When Richard wasn't working, he enjoyed visiting casinos in Atlantic City and Pennsylvania. He also had a deep love of classic cars, and enjoyed owning a few throughout his life. He was a talented musician, and loved to play classical music on his upright piano, and never passed up an opportunity to watch a good classic movie while drinking a soda.
Richard is lovingly survived by his sister, Shirley Bahto; his brother, Mose Aimone; and many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, May 7th from 2-3 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 3 pm.
A graveside service & presentation of Honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard will be held 11:30 am Monday, May 8 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
