It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard H. Brucker, age of 90, who passed away at his home surrounded by family on September 11, 2025, after a short illness.
Richard was born on December 5, 1934, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to the late Harley and Virginia (Hazelton) Brucker.
After graduating from Lawrence Park High School, Richard worked at General Electric and Erie Strayer, where he retired after 37 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially passionate about the Erie Otters, where he held season tickets and supported the team throughout the years including the Erie Blades and Panthers. Richard also enjoyed watching the Erie SeaWolves. In addition to his love of sports, Richard volunteered at the food pantry of Our Savior Lutheran Church, now known as Abiding Hope. He was a member of the Lake Rangers, Erie Runners Club and the Erie Blades and Erie Otters Booster Clubs. Richard was also a committed blood donor. Above all, Richard cherished his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harley Brucker and his wife, Nellie (Beck) Brucker; mother, Virginia Brucker; brother, William Brucker and sister, Marjorie Plyler.
He leaves behind to cherish him in memory, his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce (Soety) Brucker; children, Robert Plyler (Tanya) and Wanda Plyler; eight grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10th Street, on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A 10:00 AM funeral service will be held there on Monday with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
