Richard H. "Dick" Bucek
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Richard H. "Dick" Bucek, age 88, a kind, gentle, and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Known for his ever-present smile, contagious laughter, unwavering kindness, and deep commitment to his family, Dick left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Dick was a proud Navy veteran and a semi-professional harmonica player for most of his life. Born in West Park to Joseph and Mary Bucek, he was the youngest of their children and the last surviving sibling of Joseph, Chuck, Ed, Mitzi, Alice, Rose, and Irene. His brothers and sisters affectionately called him "Kralu," meaning king in Czech.
Dick was the devoted husband of 43 years to Bernardine (Kornucik) Bucek, who passed away in 2003. Together, they made their home in Kennedy Township, where Dick lived until 2018, when he moved to Florida. He is survived by his son Rich (Rhonda), daughter Janet (James), granddaughters Rachel, Katherine, Jessica, and Renee, along with many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Dick, the "Kralu," passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, in Port St. Lucie, FL.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 334 Forest Grove Rd, Coraopolis (Kennedy Township) PA 15108. A funeral prayer service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 9 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian at 10 AM in Archangel Gabriel Parish, St. Malachy Church, 343 Forest Grove Road, Kennedy Township. Interment will take place at St. Mark's Cemetery.
