Richard A. Cady, 86, of Coventry passed away at home with family by his side on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. On May 4, 1935 in Coventry, RI, Richard was born the son to the late Albert A. and Yvonne B. (Peltier) Cady. He was the life partner of Joan Jervis of Coventry, RI.
Richard was a skilled auto mechanic. He was the former owner and operator of Cady's Garage for close to five decades. He was also a volunteer fire fighter and Rescue Captain of the former Hill Farm Road Volunteer Fire Department, currently Central Coventry, FD and proudly served in the Naval reserves. He was a skilled woodworker and crafted just about anything he desired. He loved to travel to Florida every winter with Joan as well as travel the U.S. in their mobile home. He also enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and going to Nascar Races. He was happiest when he was with his family or on his tractor.
He is survived by two sons: Richard A. Cady, Jr. and his wife Judith of Coventry, RI and James Cady and his wife Anne of Coventry, RI; four grandchildren: Megan Wilson of Coventry, RI, Andrew Cady of Coventry, RI, Michaela Cady of Coventry, RI and Jaclyn Swanson of West Greenwich, RI; seven great-grandchildren: Caden and Rylee; Madeline and Mason V; Jamieson and Liam; and Maeve; two siblings: Jeanne Graemiger of Coventry, RI and Kenneth Cady of Virginia. Throughout his struggles with cancer, his family took great care of him. Joan's daughter, Bonnie Jervis, went above and beyond to tend to his needs which Richard greatly appreciated.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 13 from 10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI immediately followed by a funeral service at 12 noon. The service will be streamed live through Carpenter-Jenks Facebook page. Burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Greenwich.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
