Richard H. Campbell, Jr., 86, of Binghamton peacefully passed away at sunrise on Tuesday, June 18th at the home of his loving daughter Yvonne, surrounded by the love of his family and God with his lap buddy Toby leading him across the Rainbow Bridge into the heavenly meadow of God's great kingdom where he was re-united with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He is now re-united in Heaven with his parents Richard Sr. and Leah (Davis), his wife Ruth Campbell and sisters Linda VanDusen (Arthur) and Gail Clark.
He is survived by his loving daughter Yvonne (Ed) Nowakowski and his daughter Ellen Campbell; grandchildren Matthew Nowakowski (Katelyn Farrar), Erica Squeo (Dylan), his great grandchild Victor Piester, Brother-in-Law Peter Clark as well as many nieces and nephews. Richard was a lifelong employee of Singer Link Aviation from 1956 until his retirement in 2000. As a member of the Final Assembly Team, he was involved with projects ranging from commercial aviation to the Saturn/Apollo Projects, the Space Shuttle and many military projects that took him around the world
Richard's faith and devotion to God and his family was the cornerstone and foundation of his life. His beautiful smile brought warmth and joy to all who knew him. The softness of his voice was a testament to the love he gave to all. His witty sense of humor when telling a joke or playing a trick on his grandchildren will be sorely missed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lourdes Hospice, especially Lauren, Amy and Rose who provided such loving care and compassion to him and the family as he prepared for his new pilgrimage of eternal life in God's Kingdom.
The family is forever grateful for the love, care and devotion provided by Dawn Sayman, his caregiver, for all she did to make the last year of his life enjoyable and rewarding with all of the visits to the Senior Centers, trips for ice cream and out to lunch, and to Grande's where she was surprised when he ordered a beer!
Visiting hours will be on Monday, June 24th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Barber Memorial Home, 428 Main Street Johnson City. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25th at 10:00am at Living Hope Church, 29 Grant Avenue, Endicott, NY with Pastor Jeff Talbert officiating. Interment at Vestal Hills Memorial Park will be immediately after the service.
As dad's favorite color was SUNSHINE, we ask that everyone wear yellow (or a bright color) in remembrance of how dad brightened our days with his warmth and love.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Living Hope Church or the Alzheimer's Association of Central New York.
My life's an empty canvas Lord All of my paint and brushes Are under your command. Let it tell a story Lord Of everything I've gained in You And all I've left behind The times I stood up straight and tall Singing, " I shall not be moved!" Those times I turned back from the fight And came running straight to You. You formed me in my Mother's womb You knew me even then Who could better paint my life From where it first began? So, when my life is over And the picture is complete It will be more than just a painting It will be a Master-piece.
