Richard J. Cassidy Jr.

Richard J. Cassidy Jr., 89, of Holiday City South, Berkeley Twp., died Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Brooklyn, he had resided in Colts Neck for 32 years before moving to Berkeley Twp. in 2016. He had worked as a stereotype for the Journal American newspaper, and the New York Times for 21 years before retiring in 1979. Richard also continued to work as a general contractor for 59 years having built his own house in Colts Neck. Richard was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War on the battleships, USS Missouri, USS Iowa, and the USS Mississippi. He was a lifetime member of the Graphic Communications International Union. He enjoyed gourmet cooking, loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carol A. Cassidy. He is predeceased by a son, Richard Cassidy IV. Surviving is his son & daughter in law, Michael & Jacqueline Cassidy, 3 grandchildren: Richard John 5th, Michael Brian, & Breeana Nicole Cassidy; sisters: Tish & husband, Ronny Maresca, and sister Ruth; brother: Robert, and many nieces, nephews, & cousins. Richard was also predeceased by his father, Richard J. Cassidy Sr, brothers: Arthur & Jimmy Cassidy; and sisters: Peggy Gentile & Gloria Neri. Visitation is Monday, 8:45-10:45 am at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. Interment will follow at 11:30 am Brig. Gen. Doyle Veteran Cemetery, Arneytown.
