Richard Cole Obituary
He was born on July 10, 1949 in Tacoma Park, MD to the late Donald Sylvan and Thelma Joyce Bitter Cole.
Richard worked for many years as a custodian at Plains Elementary School where he enjoyed all the children. He was a member of the Brethren of Mtn. Grove Church in Fulks Run where he served as superintendent of Sunday School. Richard loved hockey and the history of his confederate heritage.
In February of 2021 he married the former Marcia Dawn Phillips Dove who preceded him in death on October 24, 2022.
Surviving is a stepdaughter; Emily Jones and husband Mark of Timberville, grandson; Mike Cole, granddaughters; Emily Cole, Marnie Jones, one great grandchild, a brother; Dwayne Cole and wife Karen of Broadway, a sister; Diane Taylor and husband Wayne of Haymaket, one niece and one nephew.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Scott Cole and a grandson, Johnathan Cole.
Jerry Shiflet will conduct a funeral service at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Brethren of Mtn. Grove Church in Fulks Run. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, weather permitting.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Brethren of Mtn. Grove Church; 12743 3rd Hill Rd, Fulks Run, VA 22830.
