Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed peacefully after a long illness. He faced every challenge with strong faith, courage, and love, and his family was at the center of his world.
Rick retired five years ago after working as a quality control manager for over 30 years, retiring alongside his good friend and co-worker, Rick Fox.
He found joy in the outdoors and in adventure. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, boating, beach vacations, and going on cruises-especially when he could share those moments with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. Family was everything to him, and the memories he created with them will be cherished forever. Rick lived very intentionally, always trying to fit in as much as he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Glenna Copeland, whom he loved deeply.
Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Anna, and their sons: Garrett Copeland (Morgan), Eric Copeland (Ashley), Jason Copeland (Ashley), Justin Copeland (Lisa). He also considered Blake Hartung (Brittany) and David Stuck (Abbey) his “fifth and sixth sons.” He was a proud grandfather to Izzy, Natalie, Brandon, Connor, Hannah, Austin, Levi, and Carly, who brought him endless joy.
He is also survived by his sisters, Darla Lindsey (Steve), Sherry Haymond (Mark), and Dana Harsh (Rob); his mother-in-law, Joan Soles; his sister-in-law, Lisa Perolis; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will hold his memory close.
Rick’s presence, laughter, and love will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him, but we take comfort in the promise of reunion and the peace he now has in the Lord.
Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Rick's name to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
