Richard George Dahl Jr. passed away on July 8th, 2025.

Richard is survived by his parents Marlene Buffmyer and Michael (Joyce) Cucchiara. He is also survived by his children, Jacob (Suzy Haupt) Dahl, Olivia (Richard) Ciavone and Matthew Hamn. Beloved brother to Lisa (Tony) Pastue, Tony (Peggy) Dahl and Gina. Stepbrother to Steve Buffmyer and Michelle (Steve) Sieffert. Uncle to Jason and Amanda Dahl, Kyle Kamego and Jack Dahl, Lex Cucchiara and Annabella. Many more great nieces and nephews as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his beloved stepfather, Michael Buffmyer and brother-in-law, Theodoros Vergos. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Brenda Ashford and her family who shared life with him and loved him much.

Richard was the first-born child to Marlene Buffmyer and Richard Dahl. He grew up in the Detroit-Metro area and graduated in 1983 from Fitzgerald High School. He was well liked in school, had many friends and participated in football as well as other extra-curricular activities. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Kim. While they did not stay married, they had 2 beautiful children and remained friends.

Early in his life, Richard had a love of automobiles. He began to learn about auto mechanics while still in high school and went on to spend his life working in automotive repair and sales. Rich was a born salesman and always has an easy time finding work. For a time, he took a break from the automotive world to work in the restaurant business alongside his family but eventually returned to what he really loved doing.

Rich definitely lived his life on his own terms and enjoyed many adventures over the years. He had a great sense of humor and could charm just about anyone. His gift of gab allowed him to make friends easily and do his job well. He enjoyed spending his time with those who meant the most to him. His love of cars led him to his favorite sport, Nascar, and he could talk for hours about his favorite drivers and their cars. He loved listening to good music, attending concerts, shows and enjoying life.

While rich was not a candidate for organ donation, as a final gesture, he was able to make tissue donation to Gift of Life Michigan, so that others may have healing and life from our loss. As a family, we take great comfort and pride in knowing he was able to give back in our time of sorrow.

Visitation for Richard will take place on Monday, July 14 from 2pm to 8pm at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home at 13650 Fifteen Mile Road in Sterling Heights. He will lie in state on Tuesday at 9am until the time of a Funeral Mass at 9:30am at St. Rene Goupil Parish at 35955 Ryan Road in Sterling Heights.

Richard was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, and he was loved by his village. It is with profound sadness that, as a family, we must say our goodbyes to Rich. May peace be with him as he journeys onward and may the warmth of his memory comfort all who are impacted by his passing. His story continues in the lives he touched, and his spirit lives on in those who loved him.
