Richard "Dick" L. Tegethoff, 73, of Beattie, KS, died January 11, 2024, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. 

Visitation was Tuesday, January 16, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary.  The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. 

A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, at the Beattie United Methodist Church.  The officiant was Pastor Selene Samuel. The organist was Laura O’Neil and Ashley Ward sang “Go In Peace.”  The congregation sang “Amazing Grace.” 

Pallbearers were Adam Ward, Arlin Krebs, Daryl Seematter, Ryan Johnson, Tim Wanklyn, Roger Skeen, and Rustin Ward.  Honorary pallbearers were Matt Bergmann, Doug Booth, Gary Bergmann, Cory Bowles, Mike Gee and Jeff Polson. 

Burial was in Beattie Union Cemetery. 

On October 25, 1950, Richard was born in Marysville to Forrest and Viola (Wagner) Tegethoff.  Dick grew up in Beattie and in 1968, he graduated from Marysville High School. He served in both the Army and the Kansas Army National Guard with overseas deployments.  

He worked for D & R Toms Sales on the delivery route throughout all of North Central Kansas. Dick later spent many decades working with area farmers for the Beattie Coop. Dick was known to have spent most of his time between the Beattie, Frankfort, Marietta and Summerfield locations. Upon retirement, Dick found passion in woodworking. He was known for making numerous wood projects on the lathe to include urns, rings, and decorative bowls. 

Dick was also well known as an avid sportsman centered around hunting, fishing, and trapping. Dick loved watching his grandchildren show livestock and play volleyball while being their #1 fan. He was a member of the Beattie United Methodist Church and Beattie Fire Department. Dick was very passionate and dedicated to both the annual fish fry’s and Milo Festival. 

Preceding him in death were his parents; infant son, Gregory Allen; and a daughter, Robin Nicole. 

Survivors include son Rich (Londa) Tegethoff, Kirwin; daughter, Robin (Adam) Ward, Paola; sister Mary Jo (Jack) Poggenklass, Cherokee, IA; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. 

A memorial fund has been established to benefit the Beattie Fire Department. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
