Our loving husband, dad, pappy, brother, uncle, protector and dear friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at HealthSource Saginaw. He was 74 years old. Richard James Dolson was born on February 2, 1951 in Saginaw to Richard O. and Kathleen (Hanley) Dolson. Rick was a lifelong resident of Saginaw. A proud graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1969, Rick furthered his education at Delta College before graduating from the Muskegon County Police Academy. In 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Cindy Wozniak, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Together they celebrated many wonderful years together.
Rick dedicated 28 years to the Saginaw Police Department, serving with distinction and retiring as the City Fire Investigator. His commitment to public service was a testament to his character and dedication to his community. During his retirement years, he enjoyed working part-time for Deisler Funeral Home, where he had the opportunity to continue to serve the Saginaw Community.
Beyond his professional achievements, Rick was a man of varied interests and deep family bonds. He found joy in watching his granddaughters play sports, hunting with his son-in-law, Brian and nephew, Jonathon, and spending time with his beloved grand dogs, Abby and Lucy. A music enthusiast, Rick enjoyed playing guitar and was known for his spirited card games with his granddaughters. Evenings often found him watching his favorite old Western shows, a pastime that brought him much comfort.
Rick is survived by his wife, Cindy "Cid"; his daughter, Jennifer "Jenny" (Brian) Courser; granddaughters: Paige Courser and Sara Courser; brother, Tom Dolson; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Frank Wozniak and Fran and Jerry Szostak; dear cousins that were like his sisters: Mary Jones and Martha (Rick) Barczak; special friends: Dave and Bobbie Beyerlein and their children: Jessica Swan, Jonathon Beyerlein and Jordan Krukowski; many nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: Clara and Stan Wozniak; brother-in-law, Floyd "Butch" Wozniak; aunt, Loretta Hagarty; niece, Geri Lyn Meyer; and special cousin, Fran Weigandt.
FUNERAL LITURGY: A funeral liturgy for Rick will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025 at St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn St. Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Richard John will officiate.
VISTIATION: Family and friends will gather at the church on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass.
