Richard Henry Firestine, known to many as "Dick", passed away on December 4, 2023, at the
age of 85 in Jackson, Tennessee.
Dick was born on November 12, 1938, in Richland, Pennsylvania the son of the late Nelson and
Mildred Mengel Firestine.
His journey began when he joined the United States Marine Corps after high school working as
an Electronic Aircraft Technician, where he served honorably for many years. His commitment to his work
and his fellow servicemen was unwavering. Dick's skills and dedication were recognized by his
peers and superiors alike.
After his military service, Dick embarked upon a new chapter in his life. He found employment
at Owens Corning Fiberglass, where he continued to showcase his exceptional technical abilities.
During his time there, he became a valuable member of the company and built lasting friendships
with his colleagues.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dick was a loving family man. He cherished the time
spent with his beloved wife Alice Firestine of Jackson. Their bond was unbreakable, providing
each other with unwavering support throughout their lives together.
He also leaves behind a daughter, Pam Sanders and her husband Robert of Jackson, TN; his
grandchildren, April Pieniazek and husband Erik of Jackson, TN and Beth Ann Ridings and
husband Dexter of Dickson, TN; four great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Luke Pieniazek and
Meredith and Cameron Ridings; a niece, Anita Hagelin of Philadelphia and a nephew, Nate
Holm of Austin, TX. They will forever cherish the memories they shared as a family.
Along with his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Holm and her husband
Allan.
To honor Dick's life a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. December 8th, 2023, in the chapel
of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Dr. Jerry Welch officiating. The family will be receiving
friends on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.
Dick Firestine will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment.
His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
