Richard "Rick" Garnich, of Southampton, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025. He was 71.
Born in Philadelphia to Alvin and Mary Garnich (née Wentz), Rick attended Council Rock High School and eventually earned his GED. Rick was an accomplished mechanical draftsman and designer. He began his career at Eaton Corporation as a draftsman of forklift truck modifications. He was then hired by Fluitron, Inc., where he spent 27 years as a mechanical designer of high pressure equipment. Rick was also a talented woodworker, designing and building custom furniture and other cherished items for family members. A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, it was rare to see Rick without a Phillies hat on his head. He was also an avid auto racing fan, closely following Jeff Gordon's career. During his years in retirement, he enjoyed playing video games, reading, and watching movies (unless, of course, there was a Phillies or Eagles game on TV). Finally, Rick was a pet owner for most of his life, with a special place in his heart for all of his pets, especially his Dachshund named Schultz.
He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Garnich and her wife, Dr. Heather Horowitz.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation/Memorial Service on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Rd, Richboro, PA 18954 (at Holland Rd), from 3:30 to 5:00pm, with the Service beginning at 4:30pm. After the service, there will be an open house with dinner at the home of Maura and Tom Moore: 144 Oak Ridge Drive, Langhorne, PA 19047. All are invited to attend the Visitation/Memorial Service and/or dinner afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick's memory may be made to one of the organizations below:
