Loving husband of Shirley and the late Barbara. Cherished father of Marion (Walter Mayne) Palmer, Laura Grix-Everett and step-father to Gary Sich and Christopher (Kathy) Sich. Beloved grandfather of Susan Loranger,Cheyenne Everett, Dylan Everett, Kelly Palmer; proud great-grandfather to Elizabeth "Libby" Loranger; and step-grandfather to Cody Sich, Rebecca Sich, Emma Sich, Josh Pranger and Brianna Pranger. Loving brother of Donald Grix. Also survived by his dear canine companions Anamosa, Tala and granddog Stella. Preceded in death by parents, Mervyn Clara and Bernard Grix, Sr.; his brothers, Bernard Grix Jr., Frederick Grix, Leroy Grix, Douglas Grix and William Grix.
Richard was a graduate of Lawrence Tech and Wayne State University. Richard was a long time employee of Chrysler Automotive. In his free time he was an all-around sportsman. Richard was an avid fisherman, deer hunter and archer. He also enjoyed working on his garden. Richard was passionate about woodworking. He had a true talent for creating beautiful wood furniture, carving intricate woodworks and helping the family with their home projects. One of Richard's pride and joy was the log cabin he enjoyed for 25 years. Richard's cabin across from Mackinac Island was over 100 years old and he lovingly maintained. Richard's passion and his love for his family will be greatly missed by all who had the chance to meet him.
Visitation Friday 3-9pm with 7:00pm Rosary at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. (SHELBY TOWNSHIP). Funeral Saturday Instate 9:15am at St. John Vianney Church 54045 Schoenherr (btw. 24 & 25 Mile Rds) until time of Mass at 10:00am. Donations are welcome to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery. Share memories with the family at their "On Line Guest Book" @ WujekCalcaterra.com.
