Richard Trevino Hernandez, December 13, 1948 - January 23, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Richard Trevino Hernandez on January 23, 2025 at the age of 76. Born in Pearsall, Texas on December 13, 1948 to Margarita and Gabriel Hernandez, who have preceded him in death. Richard lived a life full of love, service, and dedication.
Richard's greatest joy was his family. He was devoted father to his daughter, Lorena Zuvia (Manuel Zuvia III). His granddaughters, Antonia and Mila Zuvia, were his pride and joy, filling his life with laughter and warmth. He is survived by his sisters, Enoelia Ortiz (Louis Ortiz), Rosalinda Onofre, his brother, Gabe Hernandez (Leigh Enderlin), and countless nieces and nephews. Richard is preceded in death by his beloved sons, Carlo and Mario Hernandez, whose memories he carried close to his heart.
Richard dedicated 33 years to the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, a career that showcased his commitment to environmental stewardship and development. He was also a farmer with a profound connection to the land, finding joy and purpose in it's cultivation, and loving every moment spent outside in the fresh air. His commitment to his community extended beyond his professional life as he also served as a Pearsall City Council Member and a Frio County Commissioner.
Richard had a zest for life. He loved to travel and engage in meaningful conversations about current events and politics over a hearty meal. Above all, he was devoted to his family and friends, finding immense pride and joy in their company.
Richard's legacy is one of love, dedication, and integrity. He will be remembered as a man who made a lasting impact on everyone he met. His wisdom, humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
