Richard David Hernandez
1952 – 2025
Richard David Hernandez, loving brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025.
The graveside service will be Friday, February 28,2025 at 11:00 am at Greenlawn Memorial Park – Northeast, Bakersfield, California.
Richard was born in Bakersfield, California on March 9,1952 to Neomi Szabo and Rafael Hernandez. Richard was always a hard worker; he was employed at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools from 1983 to 1993 as the Lead Custodian. He later went to work for St. John's Lutheran Church also as the Lead Custodian, he worked there for 24 years and retired at the age of 68. Richard liked going on long walks, going on family vacations, fishing with his older son and brothers-in-law and walks in the mall with his youngest son. As a child, Richard had a love for ducks and geese and when he grew older he actually had them as pets. Thank you, Dad, for all the memories and for all the loving things you did for each one of your kids and grandchildren. You will forever be in our hearts.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
Richard is survived by his sister, Lorraine DeAnda, Sons, Mark Hernandez (Raquel), Richard Hernandez Jr., His daughter, Sandra Jaquez (Gary). Grandchildren, Marina Olivera (Michael), Markie Hernandez and Jacob Hernandez. Great Grandchildren, Savannah Olivera, Lauren Olivera, Nora Olivera and several nephews, nieces and godchildren.
Pallbearers: Mark Hernandez, Richard Hernandez Jr, Gary Jaquez, Michael Olivera, Fred Feliz, Markie Hernandez and Jacob Hernandez.
Thank you to everyone for the visits, meals, flowers and prayers.
