Dad, Richard Lewis Hightower (Dad, Papa, and “Uncle Ricky” (passed away peacefully in a beautiful assisted living facility on June 30th, 2025 in Bakersfield, CA. He was surrounded and visited by so many family and friends at the time of his death. He had such a fulfilling life and was such a joy to be around. We will all miss his smile and especially his sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maudy Mildred Hightower, father, Robert Paul Hightower, brother, Norbert Hightower, sisters Paula Ivester and May Berger. He is survived by his older brother, James Emmett Hightower, daughter, Margie Hightower Filson, son, Richard Lewis Hightower Jr. , granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Hightower and so many nieces and nephews.

Many thanks to his nieces Shari Benson, Joni Hightower Marroquin, and nephew Robert Dear for their loving care of dad. Special thanks as well to hospice nurses Danielle and Aurora along with many others at Kaiser Permanente for their loving care. Jasmine, Jerry, Ronnie and Vina from Arcadia assisted living facility gave him so much comfort and care up until he left us.

Services will be held on August 29th, 2025 (his 80th birthday) at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. Bakersfield, CA 93306 at 11am. Celebration of Life will follow at Chuy’s Baja Grill, 8660 Rosedale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93312.

An additional Church service will be held at Height Street Baptist Church, 1010 Height Street, Bakersfield, CA 93305 on Thursday, August 28th, 2025 at 6pm for those who wish to attend.
