Richard Carl Hootman, 78, passed away peacefully at home in Jeromesville, Ohio on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Richard was born on June 14, 1947 to Mary Hootman (Geitgey) and Howard Carl Hootman in Bucyrus, Ohio.He attended Westerville High School graduating in the class of 1965, and he joined the Ohio National Guard after high school. Richard ("Barber Dick") went on to own The Worthington Barber Shop in 1975. Over the course of 40 years he made many friends and colleagues. Richard was a member of New England Lodge #4, Worthington Shrine Club and he was a former Sharon Township Trustee. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mary Hootman, sisters Joyce Althauser and Nancy Merrick, brother Jack Hootman and his son, Chad Christopher Hootman. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sandra Hootman (Knoebel), son Jeffery Carl Hootman (Jennifer) of Worthington, Lisa Kay Smith (Dill) of Jeromesville, Ohio. Grandchildren Cody Hootman (Rachel), Bailey Marcum (Alex), Troy Hootman and Abigail Smith. Great-granddaughters Emilia Rose Marcum and Emmy Ann Hootman. Our family will be forever grateful for the love, support and kindness shown. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085. Memorial service will begin at 1:30 pm. Private family burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery following the service.
