Richard L. Houser, Sr., 93, of Mill Hall passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Geisinger, Jersey Shore.
Born March 31, 1931 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Raymond Rogers and Gladys Houser.
On January 7, 1950, he married his love, the former Alva L. Fravel, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage before her passing on January 2, 2020.
Richard was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Constone, retiring at the age of 85.
Surviving are his children: Vickie L. Cross (Ron Laubscher) of Avis, Richard L. (Trudy) Houser, Jr. of Mill Hall, Thomas E. (Karen) Houser of Mill Hall, Harry S. (Pam) Houser of Mill Hall and Betty A. (Douglas) Lamey of Flemington; a brother, Lyle Taylor of Lock Haven; three sisters: Grace Smead of Bellefonte, Mary Confer of Milesburg and Shirley Klinger of Bellefonte; 11 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 13 great, great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Alva Houser, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Barry Taylor and Glenn Frank; a great granddaughter, Riley Houser; and a step-grandson, Randy Laubscher.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 12 Noon at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with Rev. Mark Riley officiating. Private interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 AM until the time of the service.
