RICHARD D. HULTMAN, 92, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Thursday morning, November 13, 2025 at his residence in Cherokee, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Philip Beisswenger will officiate. A family burial will take place at a later date at the Meriden Cemetery at Meriden, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.

Richard Dean Hultman, born on October 25, 1933 to Reuben and Leona (Matson) Hultman. Rich grew up in the Meriden area, attending school in Meriden and graduating in 1953. He married the love of his life, Colleen Hanson on July 18, 1954 at the Meriden Evangelical Free church where they met at age of 12. They lived in Cherokee where they raised their 4 children Ronald, Jodi, Cindy, and Russ. He was a dedicated professional truck driver, and a car enthusiast. His 1966 Red Mustang convertible was always a favorite. Rich worked 10 years for Fixel Oil Company, drove many years for Simonsen Mill in Quimby, Umthun Trucking, Eagle Grove and Stylecraft in Milford. After many summers spent on Lake Okoboji with family and friends the Hultman's moved to Arnold's Park, Iowa for 9 years before retiring to Kingman, Arizona in 1996. Rich and Colleen worked together as park managers of the Mesa Verde Senior Living Mobile Home Park for 22 years, where they resided.

Rich was a member of the Cerbat Cliffs Golf Course in Kingman, and the Kingman Social Club. He was an active member of the Kingman Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, and an elder, attended the men's weekly bible study, and was the grounds keeper. Rich was the official greeter that met everyone with a hug on Sunday mornings. Following Colleen's death in 2019, Rich moved back to Iowa, and has resided in Cherokee the past 6 years. On June 11, 2021 Richard married Barbara Sorensen of Aurelia, Iowa. They enjoyed traveling, golfing, daily coffee groups, spending time with family, and trips to Arizona. One of Rich's favorite pastimes was watching baseball, and golf on TV.

He was preceded in death, by his wife of 65 years Colleen, his parents, his in-laws Ervin and Virgie Hanson, brother Gerald, sister-in-law Joyce, brother-in-law Dick Glasson, grandsons Chad, Tyler, and Marquel.

Richard will be lovingly remembered by his wife Barbara; his children Ronald (Gaylene) Hultman of Cherokee, IA, Jodi (Neil) Phipps of Cherokee, IA, Cindy Marques (Scott Cummings) of Kingman, AZ, Russ (Lynn) Hultman of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren Jamie (Chris) Sosnowski, Aaron (Bobbi) Hultman, Tricia (Mike) Avila, Bryson (Jeanette) Marques, Christopher Hultman, Bashawn (Elaine) Snoddy, Taylor (Lindsay) Phipps, Kelly (Eric) Lundell, Brokale Marques, Bryan (Cassy) Hultman, Kyle Hultman; great grandchildren Ariah, Symphony, Amonte, Trindon, Carson, Brynn, Meiley, Mira, Adele, Piper, Kinley, Jovie, Beckham, Charlotte, Zion, Turner, Phoenix, Madi, Anthony, Marshal, Madison, Abigail; brother Roger (Arleen) Hultman; sister-in- law Donna (Ron) Mortenson; brother-in-law John (Felicia) Hanson; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
