JASZKA, Richard J.
Age 65, of Fort Myers, FL, former resident of Bartlett, IL died May 18, 2025.
Richard J. Jaszka was born November 22, 1959, to John and Patricia (Diaz) Jaszka in Berwyn, IL. He died in Fort Myers, FL on May 18, 2025.
A graduate of Lane Tech High School, Rich attended DePaul University, where he graduated in 1982 with a Master's degree in Accounting. He was proud of being one of the 17 students chosen out of 400 applicants to join the inaugural Masters of Accounting Program, and taught Accounting at DePaul while working towards his degree.
During his long career, Rich worked as a Manager or Director of Internal Audit for several corporations including MidCon Corporation, Alliant Foodservice, Zebra Technologies, and Telephone and Data Systems (TDS). Most recently, he worked for PNC Bank. He used his expertise to benefit each job but was most proud of spearheading vital components of a global Sarbanes-Oxley program for Zebra Technologies and creating audit departments from the ground up for two of these corporations. He especially enjoyed mentoring his staff to help them achieve their goals and was proud of their professional achievements.
In February 1996, he married Anita Kwest and they settled in Bartlett, IL. He surrounded himself in these years by family and friends and his beloved labradors, Daisy and Buttercup. Although he enjoyed the good life there, he decided to ditch the Midwest winters, and they moved to Fort Myers in mid-2024.
Rich was a lifelong sports fan, and while he enjoyed watching all sports and teams, he was a true fan of the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and Cubs. His collection of sports memorabilia and fan gear attest to that.
He was a big Jimmy Buffett fan and attended numerous concerts, hanging out with fellow Parrotheads and enjoying the tropical vibes, singing offkey and drinking Mai Tais.
Family was very important to Rich. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Patricia. He is survived by his wife, Anita, sister Susan (Erik) Freitag; brothers Daniel Jaszka; Tom (Denise) Jaszka, and John (Lidia) Jaszka. He was an uncle to Anna, John and Heidi Freitag; Elisabeth, Erika, Emily, Adam, Stefanie and Frank Jaszka. He was a brother-in-law to Sheila Kwest (the late Tom) of Kettering, OH and John Kwest (Marie) of Leawood, KS. In addition, he is survived by many favorite cousins and extended family members.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral, wake, or funeral Mass. The family will hold private services and his ashes will be scattered in Maui, Hawaii, a place he loved and visited for many years.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to: Animal Education and Rescue, P.O. Box 7343, Libertyville, IL, 60048, the wonderful organization he adopted his beloved Buttercup from.
Finally, Rich would encourage you to cherish family and friends, enjoy life, remember the good times and raise a Cosmo or Mai Tai in his name.

My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to the whole Jaszka family. I was very saddened to hear that Rich had passed away. I have so many fond memories of Rich. He had a special and unique blend of kindness, humor - biting and funny, intelligence that he readily shared, a never ending supportive nature of his family, friends and co-workers and a zest for enjoying life that was contagious to all around him. I was fortunate to have met him. Wishing you strength and solace during this time.

Sorry for your loss. I used to work at MidCon with Rich back in the day. Those were some great times. He was a great guy. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
