Richard was born on June 23, 1956, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Norman and Ethel (Horvath) Konarska. He married the love of his life, Deborah (Kannberg) Konarska, on June 27, 1981, at Faith Lutheran Church in Brownstown Township.
He dedicated 30 years of service to the Woodhaven School District, working as a maintenance employee until his retirement.
Richard was an active member of the Flat Rock Elks, St. Helen American Legion, and West Branch Eagles. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Flat Rock Elks Lodge. He loved hunting, fishing, and tending to his vegetable garden. Time spent with family, especially at the cabin up north, brought him the greatest joy. Richard had a talent for growing anything and was known as a dependable handyman who was always willing to help anyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard is survived by his wife, Deborah; children, Mindy (Steve), Scott, Amanda (Russ), and Kristine (Brandon); grandchildren, Kiersten, Clayton, Mason, Landon, Rosie, Hunter, and Ava; siblings, Bob, Terry (Brenda), and Ken (Lori).
A Celebration of Life will take place at Flat Rock Elks Lodge 1731 on Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Rich was a great guy!! You always knew he and his family were up north when you could hear the clanging of the horse shoes and the laughter. He was all about a good time and his family!! He invited us all to his backyard party once and made us all feel like family. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. We will keep his family in our prayers. Xo John and Sylvia Biafore
