Richard M. Kosten Sr. 78, passed away peacefully March 21 at home in Venice, FL. Born in Grand Rapids, MI on April 10, 1945, he was the son of the late Robert T. and Sallie (Miner) Kosten Sr., and brother of the late Robert T. Kosten Jr.
Rick's family moved to RI when he was a young child. He graduated from East Providence High School and continued his education at Wentworth Institute and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He served in the US Army Reserve for six years.
Mr. Kosten owned and operated Mason Can Co. In the late 1970's, he was instrumental in raising Capital Funds for the East Providence YMCA and throughout his adult life he volunteered for many committees and boards.
Rick was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Family members include his wife Lora L. (Bechard) Kosten along with his children, Richard M. Kosten Jr. of Riverside, RI, and Tracey L. Brennan of Plymouth, MA. He also leaves four grandchildren.
An avid golfer, he was a long-time member of the Wannamoisett Country Club. In 2007, Rick and Lora relocated to Venice, FL where they developed friendships at the Jacaranda West Country Club and the Venice Yacht Club. Rick had many interests among which were reading, carpentry and creating stained glass art.
Family and friends are welcomed to attend a Memorial Service to be held on Saturday May 18, 2024, at 11:00 AM, Swan Point Cemetery Historic Chapel. 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, Rhode Island 02906.
